Samskip, Europe's largest multimodal shipping and logistics network with 18,500 containers, 31 offices, and 125 shortsea departures per week, managed a high-volume booking operation spanning sea, rail, and road across dozens of European corridors. While digital tools supported customer self-service, a significant proportion of bookings still required manual processing by operations teams — particularly for multi-modal shipments involving rail-sea combinations, temperature-controlled cargo, or complex door-to-door routing. The manual steps limited throughput during peak periods and slowed the modal optimisation process that is central to Samskip's sustainability mission.

Stargo Stardox Agentic AI was integrated into Samskip's mySamskip customer portal and internal booking engine to automate the modal selection, capacity allocation, and booking confirmation workflow. The Stardox Agentic AI evaluates each incoming shipment request against available capacity across sea, rail, and road modes, selects the optimal modal combination based on cost, transit time, and CO2 targets, and confirms the booking automatically for standard requests. For temperature-controlled and specialist cargo, Stardox Agentic AI-assisted booking proposals are surfaced for rapid agent review. Sustainability analytics track CO2 savings per automated booking and feed into Samskip's carbon reporting.
