Executive Summary

This chapter presents the concept of cloud–edge–device collaborative technologies and innovative applications for smart cities. Drawing on years of applied research and innovation across multiple smart city domains, Gloryview Technology has established an AIoT-based foundational technology system for smart cities. In response to emerging needs in smart city development, the chapter introduces a cloud–edge–device collaborative technology framework comprising “four core technology systems and one innovative application framework,” providing new technical support for the high-quality socioeconomic development of China’s urban agglomerations. As a new driver to enhance urban development, smart cities create a new ecological model conducive to innovation through information technology, integrate urban systems and services to improve the efficiency of resource operations, enhance urban management and service levels, and optimize industrial layouts and operations. The construction of smart cities has proceeded through three stages, namely, the concept popularization stage, the pilot promotion stage, and finally, the development and innovation stage, where it has now entered the new form of “digital smart city”.
